Virgie Belle Howard, 92 of Spotsylvania, died Sunday, July 18, 2010 at Mary Washington Hospital.
A native of Chancellor, Mrs. Howard was the daughter of the late Howard and Rosa Curtis. She was a graduate of Chancellor High School and a long time member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. She was a retired school bus driver for Spotsylvania County with 40 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Willie Brown, and James J. "Curly" Howard; a daughter, Debbie Howard; and two brothers, Walter Curtis, and Robert Curtis.
Survivors include her daughter and caregiver, Judy Giles and her husband, John of Lake Anna; sons, William A. Brown and his wife Lorine of Lake Anna, and Dennis C. Howard and his wife, Bonnie of Spotsylvania; a sister, Anne C. Alsop of Bassett; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Willis A. Dempsey officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 21 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel.
