Herman Thomas Stanley, 86, of Fredericksburg died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Mary Washington Hospital.
Mr. Stanley was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and worked at the FMC plant in Fredericksburg. He was the neighborhood handyman and loved to help others.
Survivors include his three sons, Puddin Stanley of Fredericksburg, Douglas Stanley of Fredericksburg and Carroll Stanley of Caroline County; three daughters, Peggy Christian of Stafford County, Sharon Meadows of Stafford, and Shelby "Chubby" O’Brien of Fredericksburg; three brothers; Ernest, Alonzo and James; two sisters; Jenny and Lena; 22 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Graves Stanley; and three sons, Donald L. Stanley, John R. Stanley, and Baldy Graves.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 29 at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
Pallbearers will be Brian Stanley, Chad Stanley, Ben Stanley, Herbert Lee Meadows, Buzzy O’Brien and Brad Thompson.
