Alexander Augustus “Alex” Sherman, 17, of Stafford County, died August
29, 2007.
Alex is survived by his parents Paul and Valerie Sherman; one brother,
Patrick Owens, sister-in-law Michelle Owens, two nephews Jack and Max
Owens, his girlfriend Katherine Ann Latenres, his paternal grandfather,
Glenn E. Sherman and his wife Betty; Aunts and uncles Victoria Van Pelt
and her partner Mary, Lynn Basar, Barbara Cutrona and her husband,
Steve, Diane Sherman, and her partner, Paul , Mary Ellen Dolan and her
husband, Matt; Hunter Van Pelt and his wife Melody, Thomas Sherman and
his wife, Susan; Cousins Brandon Basar, Daniel Van Pelt, Samantha
Cutrona, Allison Cutrona, Nicholas Cutrona, Patrick Dolan, Melissa
Dolan, Nora Dolan, Brian Dolan, Tommy Glenn Sherman, Brendan Sherman,
Caitlin Sherman, and James Sherman; and a Great-aunt Jean Marie Sherman.
His maternal grandparents, Ralph and Helen Van Pelt, preceded him in death.
Alex was a rising Senior at Stafford Senior High School, where he was
beloved by many staff and friends. Alex excelled in all areas of
endeavor: academics, basketball, and outdoor sports. Alex loved
fishing and jet skiing. His strong work ethic earned him wide
admiration; his kind and gentle demeanor won him many friends; and his
complete dedication to family brought him their boundless love.
All are invited to attend a memorial service at Stafford Senior High
School on Friday, August 31 at 11 a.m. The family will receive
friends at Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jeff Davis Hwy,
Fredericksburg, on Friday, August 31 from 6 pm to 9 pm. Funeral
Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, William St.,
Fredericksburg, Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 1 at 11:30 a.m. Interment at
Historyland Memorial Park on Rte 301, King George, VA will immediately
follow the mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be
sent to The Alex Sherman Scholarship Memorial Fund c/o BB&T Bank 401
Jefferson Davis Hwy Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
